apgDat Plus Simplifies Route Forecasting Analyses
for Airport Users
Airport Marketing and Air Service Development professionals often struggle to assemble a persuasive analysis when presenting new routes to airline route planners. In fact, these airport personnel commonly hire consultants to perform route forecasts on their behalf, paying thousands of dollars per forecast.
apgDat Plus allows airport personnel to perform route forecasts themselves using the same sophisticated techniques employed by airline planners. apgDat Plus is an optional add-on module to the basic apgDat webtool. Like the main product, apgDat Plus runs over the internet, allowing the user to perform complex analyses by entering a few easy-to-understand keystrokes and clicking a button.
apgDat Plus Lets Airports Use the Same Sophisticated Techniques and Databases as Airlines
apgDat Plus works using Quality of Service Index ("QSI") algorithms, which have become the standard methodology used throughout the airline industry to forecast passenger traffic over a complicated route network. QSI algorithms assign a coefficient to each possible itinerary that a passenger could take between an origin and destination, depending on the number of stops and aircraft sizes of each itinerary. The underlying principal of QSI is that someone traveling from Point A to Point B is more likely to take a nonstop on a widebody than they are a two-stop journey involving regional jets or turboprops. QSI forecasts are also based on underlying marketsize information, a database containing demand and fare information for travelers around the world. apgDat Plus runs on a proprietary worldwide marketsize database developed by Diio personnel, who also develop marketsize databases for many of the world's leading airlines, including all the members of the Star Alliance.
apgDat Plus allows airport personnel to add a new airline route into world's airline schedules, with up to three daily round trip frequencies. The tool then calculates how many passengers will board that flight, whether they will connect to another flight at the airports on either end, and what these passengers will pay for their journeys. The tool allows the user to enter many variables that go into this calculation flight timings, choice of aircraft, connection windows, traffic stimulation, etc. all using simple input screens that are common to the basic apgDat webtool.
The results of the apgDat Plus forecasts run in a few minutes and come out in a concise, understandable report that can be displayed on the screen or downloaded to Excel™. This report can be easily distilled by airport personnel, and can become an integral part of a route pitch to an airline route planner.
apgDat Plus Makes Complex Air Service Development
More Affordable
Like apgDat, apgDat Plus is sold on a subscription basis for a single annual fee, and there is no limit to the amount of route forecasts that the user can run. The best part of this pricing model is that apgDat Plus allows airport personnel to perform a task for which they used to hire consultants, all for the cost of what their consultant would generally charge for one single route forecast.
