Joseph Romaine is a Sr. Software Engineer at Diio, contributing to its apgDat line of
products, as well as development of custom internet-based data portals.
Mr. Romaine has over 10 years of software engineering and management experience
across a number of industries, including pharmaceuticals, telecommunications and
natural language translation. His roles have been varied, ranging from prototyping
new technologies at early stage startups, to architecting interoperable enterprise
software for large corporations.
Prior to his work at Diio, Mr. Romaine was the Chief Architect of two application
suites within Research and Development at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals. One
suite captured clinical and non-clinical experimental data as well as scientific
study protocols, while the other suite predicted the toxicity of prospective drugs.
He acted as Chief Architect at Avnet Inc. on software that forecasted supply and
demand for the 10 billion electronic parts that Avnet buys and sells each year.
While a Sr. Software Engineer at ETranslate, he incorporated machine learning into
algorithms he developed to aid in natural language translation. Mr. Romaine has
also acted as an independent IT consultant to various other corporations.
Prior to developing software, Mr. Romaine conducted neuroscience research for a
number of years into schizophrenia and multimodal sensory integration. He holds
Bachelor's degrees in Neuroscience and Computer Science from the University of
Pennsylvania.
